Bot Guide

Everything you need to know about LemmeQuoteThat! From creating your first quote to customising your style and managing your privacy.

What is LemmeQuoteThat?

LemmeQuoteThat turns any Discord message into a shareable quote image. No commands to type, no bots to @mention. Right-click (or long-press on mobile), tap apps thenQuote, and a styled card drops straight into the channel.

Quotes are generated as 1280×720 PNG images using the font and layout preferences of the person who created the quote. The quoted user's avatar and username are automatically pulled from Discord. No setup required.

Creating a Quote

Quoting is done through Discord's Apps context menu. No slash commands needed. Only text messages can be quoted; image-only or embed-only messages are not supported yet.

1
Right-click the message you want to quote.
2
Hover over Apps in the context menu.
3
Click Quote. The image appears in the channel instantly.
1
Press and hold the message you want to quote.
2
Tap Apps in the menu that appears.
3
Tap Quote. The image posts immediately.
User-app mode: LemmeQuoteThat also works as a user-installed app! Meaning you can quote messages in any server, even ones the bot hasn't been added to. Install it from your profile settings under Authorized Apps.
Quote Layouts

Three card styles are available, each with a distinct visual identity. Choose one with /setlayout. Your choice only affects quotes you create.

Aura
The author's avatar bleeds full-height on the left, dissolving into a near-black tinted background extracted from their profile picture. A color-matched accent bar runs along the left edge. Quote text sits in the right panel with the author name highlighted in the extracted accent color.
Halo
A circular avatar floats in the upper half of the card, surrounded by concentric glowing rings and a bloom that radiates outward. The background is a very dark tint of the avatar's dominant color. Quote text is centered below in clean, airy typography.
Split
A diagonal cut divides the card: the avatar fills the left 42% with a color tint overlay, and the quote text sits on a dark right panel. The angled divider has a subtle accent glow along its edge. Clean, bold, and high-contrast.
default
Tip: Accent colors are automatically extracted from the quoted user's avatar. Every layout adapts its palette to whoever is being quoted. You don't set colors manually.
Fonts

25 fonts across five categories are available. Pick one with /setfont. Your choice applies to all quotes you create. It doesn't affect how quotes of your messages look when someone else quotes you. The default is Fredoka One.

Emoji in messages are always rendered using Noto Color Emoji as a fallback, regardless of which font you've chosen. So emojis always look correct.
Privacy & Opt-Out

You are always in control of whether your messages can be quoted. Opt-out blocks quote generation. The person trying to quote you will see a private error and nothing is posted to the channel.

/optout
Prevents anyone from quoting your messages. Use the scope option to choose where it applies. This server only, or everywhere globally. When opted out globally, no server can override it.
/optin
Reverses a previous opt-out. If you opted out globally, use scope: Everywhere (global) to re-enable quotes across all servers. If you only opted out on one server, use scope: This server only.
Scope What it does How to undo it
This server only Blocks quotes of your messages on the current server. Other servers are unaffected. /optin scope:This server only
Everywhere (global) Blocks quotes on every server, including ones you haven't visited yet. /optin scope:Everywhere (global)
Global opt-out takes priority. If you are opted out globally, a server-level opt-in will not restore quoting. You must run /optin scope:Everywhere (global) first.
Stats

Run /stats in any channel to generate a live statistics card for the bot.

/stats
Generates a 900×480 PNG image showing the total number of quotes ever created, the number of Discord servers the bot is in, the current uptime since last restart, and when ran in a server, The top 5 most-quoted members on that server.

Frequently Asked Questions
There are three reasons quoting can fail: (1) the message has no text content (image-only, embed-only, or sticker messages aren't supported yet); (2) the author has opted out of being quoted on this server or globally; (3) the message was sent by a bot (bots cannot be quoted).
No. Your /setfont and /setlayout preferences only apply to quotes you create. When someone else quotes you, the card uses their font and layout settings, not yours.
Yes. LemmeQuoteThat supports Discord's user-installed app mode. Once you authorize it from your profile, you can quote messages in any server or DM even if the bot isn't a member there.
The accent color is automatically extracted from the quoted user's avatar. The bot samples the average pixel color, boosts the saturation so muted tones become vivid, and then uses it for glows, bars, and author highlights. You can't set it manually. It's always derived from the avatar.
No. Opting out only prevents new quotes from being created. Quotes that already exist in channels are not retroactively removed. If you have concerns about existing quotes, please reach out via the support server.
All quote images are 1280×720 PNG files (16:9 ratio), rendered using @napi-rs/canvas. Stats cards are 900×480 PNG. Both include a semi-transparent LemmeQuoteThat#3597 watermark.
